Fox suspends ex-Trump aide David Bossie for ‘cotton-picking’ remark

Fox has suspended a former Donald Trump campaign official after a racist comment he made on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
- David Bossie, a former deputy campaign manager for Trump, is a paid contributor on Fox.
- Fox has suspended him for two weeks.
- “You don’t have to be a golden retriever to hear all the dog whistles coming out of the white House these days and from my friend David here,” Democratic strategist Joel Payne said during the middle of the segment.
- Bossie’s respond included the phrase: “You’re out of your cotton-picking mind.”
- “I have some relatives who picked cotton and I’m not going to sit back and let you attack me on TV like that,” said Payne.
- After the statement, host Ed Henry said “I want to make clear that Fox News and this show, myself, we don’t agree with that particular phrase. It was obviously offensive.”
- Fox also issued a statement reading “David Bossie’s comments today were deeply offensive and wholly inappropriate. His remarks do not reflect the sentiments of Fox News and we do not in any way condone them.”
