Has MSNBC settled on a new anchor for its 7 p.m. hour?

MSNBC is reportedly preparing to name a permanent anchor for its 7 p.m. eastern hour, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The slot has been filled with a rotating slate of anchors since “Hardball” host Chris Matthews suddenly retired from the network amid accusations of misconduct. He left the network in March 2020.

Now, MSNBC is reportedly ready to name weekend “AM Joy” anchor Joy Reid to fill the anchor chair permanently.

Few other details were reported — including a possible name or format for the show or what might happen with Reid’s current weekend hours.

In addition to weekends, Reid has been frequently appearing on other MSNBC hours, including filling in for anchors. She was also a frequent sub for Matthews.
