Hoda Kotb has ended her relationship with her longtime boyfriend and fiance, Joel Schiffman.
Kotb and Schiffman started dating in 2013 and got engaged in 2019.
Some viewers had noticed that Kotb was no longer wearing her engagement ring on air, so she took some time on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022’s “Today with Hoda and Jenna” show to address the issue.
Hoda says her engagement has been called off. “We decided we are better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple,” she says. pic.twitter.com/zOJrvhE6wZ

“Joel and I have had a lot of prayerful and meaningful conversations over the holidays and we decided that we’re better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple,” she said.
“So we decided we are going to start this new year … on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends,” she added.
Kotb has two adopted daughters, Hope, 2, and Haley, 4, that Schiffman has helped raise over the years they’ve been together.
The couple’s wedding, originally planned for November 2020, ended up getting postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions.
