How the networks are covering the 20th anniversary of 9/11

The major U.S. networks are preparing to offer extended coverage of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

ABC News

  • “ABC World News Tonight” will originate from Ground Zero on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021.
  • “Good Morning America” will air a special edition Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at 7 a.m. eastern.
  • ABC will continue live coverage at 8 a.m. with David Muir, Robin Roberts and Diane Sawyer.

  • CBS News will feature special coverage with Norah O’Donnell Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. O’Donnell will anchor from Ground Zero.
  • CBS’s “60 Minutes” will focus on the anniversary Sept. 12, 2021, with Scott Pelley leading coverage.

  • NBC News will offer a special edition of “Dateline” Sept. 10 at 10 p.m.
  • Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb will anchor a special edition of “Today” on Sept. 11 from Ground Zero starting at 7 a.m.
  • At 8:30 a.m. Lester Holt will join Guthrie and Kotb for additional continuing coverage.
  • Holt will anchor “NBC Nightly News” from Ground Zero Sept. 11.

Telemundo

  • Telemundo will produce a 3 hour special with José Díaz-Balart and Arantxa Loizaga Sept. 11 from 8 to 11 a.m.

CNN

  • CNN will feature live coverage Sept. 11 throughout the day.
  • The network also featured a variety of specials around the anniversary.
  • CNN is also using its Citizen by CNN brand to hold a virtual event Sept. 8, 2021, with Dana Bash, Wolf Blitzer, Jim Sciutto and Clarissa Ward.

  • Fox’s cable channel will air a special edition of “Fox & Friends” at 5 a.m. from near Ground Zero Sept. 10.
  • “Fox & Friends Weekend,” “America’s Newsroom” and “Cavuto” live will also originate from that location.

  • MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” will broadcast from Ground Zero Sept. 10.
  • Alex Witt, Lindsey Reiser and Kendis Gibson will anchor coverage starting at 5 a.m. Sept. 11. Additional coverage will continue at 8 a.m. with Ali Velshi at Stephanie Ruhle Ground Zero. Hallie Jackson and Andrea Mitchell will join from Washington.
