Lous Dobbs thanks the ‘chosen one’ for making weekends possible
Fox Business personality Lou Dobbs signed off from his show Friday wishing viewers a great weekend — and then bolding proclaiming that Donald Trump is responsible for “making such a thing possible for us all.”
- The statement came at the end of a show that was filled with praise for Trump.
- Dobbs also recounted his recent visit to the White House during the episode.
- Dobbs didn’t offer an explanation for why Trump would be responsible for weekends off.
- He also didn’t acknowledge that labor unions and fair employment activists are largely responsible for the five day work week — a group of people Trump and Dobbs have voiced disapproval of in the past.
- In addition, the statement also doesn’t hold much water with today’s workforce — where both highly paid and hourly workers often have to work weekends — whether it’s in person or by having to respond to emails and do other work remotely.
- It’s also blindly ignorant of the “underemployed” people in the country who work multiple jobs — including during evenings and weekends — to make ends meet.
- Dobbs also seems to have forgotten the many professions, including first responders and the military, that require long work weeks often without traditional weekends.
- Finally, Dobbs apparently has forgotten that Fox Business and its sister network broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with mostly live programming, thus requiring people to be at work (and evening during taped programming, staffers are still almost certainly on duty for breaking news and in technical operations).
