Mike Pence hires former DHS spokesperson who defended family separations

Mike Pence has hired a new press secretary — Katie Waldman.

• Waldman, 27, is currently communications director for Sen. Martha McSally, R-Arizona.
• She was previously the Department of Homeland Security spokesperson who publicly defended separating immigrant families.
• Waldman is also reportedly dating Stephen Miller, a senior adviser for Donald Trump.
• Waldman replaces Alyssa Farah, who left for the Department of Defense.
