“NBC Nightly News: Kids Edition” turned two years old April 13, 2022.
The show, which is typically offered via digital platforms, features “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt offering kid-friendly updates on the events in the world.
It was launched in the midst of COVID-19 lockdowns as a way to help explain the pandemic and safety issues to kids but has branched out to cover other topics of interest, such as the war in Ukraine.

To mark the occasion, Holt and Jackson Daly, the son of “Today” co-anchor Carson Daly, who was named “kid correspondent” on the show, appeared on “Pop Start” during “Today” April 13.
For much of its early life, “Kids Edition” was produced remotely from Holt’s apartment and Daly’s residence but the show is now produced in-studio.
NBC experimented with airing the show on weekends on some stations but it’s also been consistently posted to YouTube and other digital platforms.
