NBCUniversal has sold its stake in Euronews.
NBC owned 25% of the European pay television network until the sale was announced April 20, 2020.
Media Globe Networks will acquire NBC’s share in the venture.
A key reason behind the divestiture is likely that NBCU parent Comcast acquired Sky broadcasting assets in 2018 and the likely felt it was important to focus on only a single European venture.
NBC has announced plans to create NBC Sky World News, an English language global news service, which was originally supposed to launch in the summer of 2020 but have since been delayed.
The two channels initially partnered in 2016 to produce content and share newsgathering resources.
In 2018, the network revamped its programming, which followed a 2017 split into 12 language specific editions.
