Neil Cavuto appears shocked on air about Shepard Smith’s announcement

The host of the Fox cable network show “Your World with Neil Cavuto” appeared shocked at the start of his Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, show following the surprise on air announcement that Shepard Smith is leaving after 23 years at the network.

• After Smith made his announcement, the show cut to a silent wide shot of the “News Deck” before fading to block and turning things over to Neil Cavuto.
• Cavuto appeared speechless for a moment and quickly launched into what appears to be an ad libbed praise of Smith.
• It’s not immediately clear if Cavuto knew ahead of time of the announcement, though his reaction certainly seemed genuine.
