NewsNation gushes on new lineup, but spells anchor’s name wrong in tweet

NewsNation promoted its new primetime lineup starting March 1, 2021, with a rundown of the new schedule and hosts — and misspelled one of its anchor’s names.

In the tweet, posted March 1, 2021 at 10:49 a.m. eastern, the network wrote: “Tonight’s the night! @NewsNation #EarlyEdition with @NicoleBerlie, @thedonlonreport anchored by @JoeDonlonTV and @BanfieldonNN hosted by @TVAshleigh air tonight starting at 6/5c.”

As you can see in the tweet below, “@NicoleBerlie (sic)” isn’t blue like the other @mentions — because that’s not how she spells her name.

It’s “Nichole Berlie” with an “h” after the “c” (and as spelled correctly in the accompany graphic).

There’s apparently no “@NicoleBerlie” user — since Twitter automatically seems to have figured out that username doesn’t exist and didn’t link it to the corresponding profile like it did with Joe Donlon and Ashleigh Banfield, whose Twitter handles the network managed to get right.

The network either never noticed the error or many have opted to keep it live so as not to lose the “likes” and comments the tweet garnered — less than 40 total at the time of this writing.
