Russia’s invasion of Ukraine dominated the headlines on the U.S. network newscasts Feb. 25, 2022, the first editions of the broadcasts since the attacks officially began.

The first signs of attack started after 10 p.m. eastern Feb. 23, 2022, much too late for the newscasts 6:30 p.m. timeslots, though the networks did break into programming shortly after the attacks began.

The attacks were covered extensively on the network’s morning shows Feb. 24, 2022.

ABC, NBC and CBS all dedicated most of their airtime Feb. 24 to the invasion, though other stories including winter weather, the George Floyd civil rights trial and coronavirus did get brief updates as well.

All three networks also had interviews with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken from the same camera position and taped at different times before the broadcasts hit the air.
