Children’s program “Sesame Street” is slated to receive a Kennedy Center Honor.
The show, which hit the air in 1969, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The awards ceremony is planned for Dec. 8, 2019, and will be telecast Dec. 15 on CBS.
Also receiving the honor, one of the most prestigious honors for lifetime artistic achievement, is actress Sally Field, who, among film roles, has also starred in TV shows, most notably “Gidget,” “The Flying Nun,” “ER” and “Brothers & Sisters.”
While the sitting U.S. president typically attends the awards ceremony, Donald Trump has declined to attend two years in a row.
There is no immediate word if Trump will attend this year’s ceremony.
