South Carolina coffee shop empowers employees with special needs
Charleston, South Carolina coffee shop chain Bitty and Beau’s plays a huge role in giving jobs to those with special needs.
There are now five stores employing over 120 people with special needs.
“As a parent of a child with special needs, you start thinking about their future,” the shop’s owner, Amy Wright, told CBS News. “And one of the obstacles that people with disabilities face is finding meaningful employment. And (this) coffee shop was born out of that need.”
The store was profiled on “CBS Evening News” Feb. 25, 2020 when the broadcast was in town for the 10th Democratic Debate.
