CBS’s reality competition show “Survivor” has been delayed due to worries over the coronavirus.
The show’s 41st season was slated to start production in Fiji in March — with Season 42 slated for May (“Survivor” like many reality shows, typically films two seasons per year).
Now, Season 41 is being pushed to May — with production on Season 42 presumably impacted as well.
Entertainment Weekly obtained a memo from host and executive producer Jeff Probst.
“Though Fiji has no reported cases and is beautifully remote, our crew numbers over 400 and are flying in from over 20 different countries, creating a need for more time to fully analyze and create our new production safety plan. This situation is unprecedented and we are learning more information every day. It is out of concern for the well-being of all of you that we have taken this step,” the memo reads.
Fellow CBS reality show “The Amazing Race,” which involves worldwide travel, shut down production temporarily in late February.
