After a tumultuous 10th season, Fox Television Stations have renewed “The Wendy Williams Show” through the 2021-2022 season.
- The show, from Debmar-Mercury, had been renewed through the end of the current season.
- There was speculation that Williams, who is in the middle of a divorce and has suffered well publicized health issues, would bow out at the end of this season.
- There were even reports that staffers on her show were looking for new jobs.
- Despite the renewal announcement, which Williams teased non-stop on Monday, Sept. 17, 2019’s season premiere, rumors are already flying about what will happen beyond 2022.
- Some sources are telling media outlets that the the two year renewal will be the show’s last.
- Others point out that Fox and Debmar-Mercury may have had little options other than to renew Williams because no viable replacement would be immediately available.
- Over the summer, Fox ran “Jerry O'” in select markets on a trial basis, but the show failed to gain traction and hasn’t been picked up yet.
