Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” has added Jon Hamm to its cast for its forthcoming third season.
“The Morning Show,” which follows the behind-the-scenes and on-air drama at a network morning newscast and stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as rival anchors, is expected to begin production for Season 3 in September 2022.
Hamm, who is known for his role as ad executive Don Draper on “Mad Men,” will play Paul Marks, a “titan” who expresses interest in the fictional UBA network featured in the show.
There hasn’t been a release date for Season 3 announced yet.
In many ways (spoilers ahead), Hamm may fill a key hole in the cast left by Steve Carrell’s Mitch Kessler, who was killed near the end of Season 2 after being fired from the show over sexual misconduct accusations at the beginning of the series. Carrell only appeared semi-regularly and it does not appear he has not been listed as a cast member for Season 3, though he could presumably appear in flashbacks or even dream sequences.
However, the show appears to have largely moved on from that storyline and with his character now killed off, that may not be likely.
