All three morning shows lead with tornadoes, rather than coronavirus

For what appears to be the first time in recent memory, all three network morning newscasts lead with a story that was not the coronavirus outbreak on their April 13, 2020 broadcasts.

NBC’s “Today,” ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “CBS This Morning” all started out with coverage of the deadly tornadoes that swept through the south.

The shows, not surprisingly, still offered extensive coverage of coronavirus and also mentioned it quickly before jumping into the weather coverage.

Over the past month or so, most editions of both the evening and morning network newscasts in the U.S. have devoted their entire tease or “headlines” that run before the open to coronavirus, though there have been a few other stories mixed in from time to time.
