“Blackish” writer Courtney Lilly will move into the showrunner role for the show’s sixth season, Variety is reporting.
A previous showrunner, Kenya Barris, exited after signing a deal with Netflix in 2018.
Lilly will replace Kenny Smith and Jonathan Groff, who were co-showrunners for Season 5.
ABC says Smith and Groff are stepping aside focusing on development, but will remain consulting producers on the sitcom.
