CNN moving Cuomo to primetime

CNN is moving morning host Chris Cuomo to a primetime slot:

  • The network experimented with “Cuomo Prime Time” in August 2017 and aired another block in January
  • News of the change was first reported by The New York Times and confirmed separately by The Hollywood Reporter
  • Cuomo will leave “New Day,” the network’s morning newscast he help launch with then co-hosts Kate Bolduan and Michaela Pereira
  • Plans call for Cuomo to take over the 9 p.m. easter slot, currently occupied by a second hour of “Anderson Cooper 360”
  • Bouluan left the show in 2015, with Alisyn Camerota replacing her, though Bouluan remained with the network
  • Pereira left in 2016 to host her own show on sister network HLN
  • Cuomo’s departure from “New Day” means none of the show’s original team remains
  • “New Day” launched in June 2013 as one of Jeff Zucker’s first major projects as president of the network
  • CNN host John Berman will replace Cuomo on “New Day”J
