Despite being criticized as a “ratings ploy,” CNN’s much-panned live broadcast of drawing names for the second democratic debate didn’t exactly deliver a boost in viewers.

The broadcast, dubbed “The Draw,” used cards and boxes to show the live drawing in an effort of “transparency.”

According to preliminary data, the special edition of “Anderson Cooper 360” captured 1.031 million viewers.

That puts it squarely in third place, behind “All In” on MSNBC with 1.658 million and “Tucker Carlson Tonight” over on Fox with 3.232 million.

The special also finished third in the adults 25-54 demo: “The Draw” attracted 223,000, behind MSNBC’s 239,000 and Fox’s 497,000.

“The Draw” also ended up being down 1% compared to the same day in 2018.

Viewership was also flat compared to the 8 p.m. average year to date.

In the demo, “The Draw” dipped 29% compared to the same night a year ago.
