Disney+ will get a filmed version of hit musical “Hamilton” 15 months before it was scheduled to be released in theaters.
The performance was filmed back in 2016 with the original Broadway cast — and has been sitting on the shelf since then.
Creator and original star Lin-Manuel Miranda revealed earlier this year that the filmed version would roll out to movie theaters in October 2021.
However, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, Miranda announced the film will stream on Disney+ on July 3, 2020 — and may bypass theatrical release altogether.
The streaming debut would be just one day before Independence Day.
