E. Jean Carroll, an advice columnist who accused Donald Trump of raping her in the 1990s says she was fired from her job at Elle magazine at the end of 2019 because of Trump’s attacks against her.

“Because Trump ridiculed my reputation, laughed at my looks, & dragged me through the mud, after 26 years, ELLE fired me,” Carroll tweeted. “I don’t blame Elle. It was the great honor of my life writing ‘Ask E. Jean.’”

Carroll accused Trump of assaulting her in a clothing store dressing room in a book published in 2019.

Trump, meanwhile, has denied the accusations and even gone as far as saying he never met Carroll.

When photographic evidence surfaced that he did, in fact, meet Carroll, he continued to claim he had “no idea” of who she is.

Carroll is currently involved in a lawsuit against Trump for defamation of character.

Carroll says she kept the dress from the alleged attack and had a substance on it tested. Meanwhile, her attorneys sent Trump’s lawyers a request for him to submit to DNA testing by March 2, 2020.

According to court documents, Elle terminated Carroll’s contract in December 2019. Her last column appeared on the magazine’s website Nov. 22.

The column was Carroll’s “primary income,” according to the documents, which also noted she would be paid for the five remaining columns on her contract.

Elle is owned by Hearst and is now facing public backlash for firing Carroll on social media.
