Bill Geddie, a longtime television news producer who frequently worked with the late Barbara Walters, has died at 68.

Geddie’s collaborations with Walters included 17 years as the executive producer of “The View” and partnering with her on numerous specials for ABC News through their BarWall Productions venture.

Geddie started in television in a roundabout way — cleaning floors at KOCO in Oklahoma City. That job opened up a chance to help run cameras at the station.

He would eventually start appearing on-air and would meet his future wife, also named Barbara, while on assignment for the station.

He would also work at WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio, serving as a videographer and editor. He moved into producing in San Fransisco, working on the local franchise of “PM Magazine.”

After that, he jumped to ABC News, working for “Good Morning America.”

In 1997, he worked with Walters to launch “The View,” a daytime talk show centered around the idea of women from different backgrounds discussing topics and news of the day.

The show is still on the air today, though Geddie left in 2014 after Walters announced her retirement from the show. Walters died in 2022 at 93.

After “The View,” Geddie helped launch “Tamron Hall” as an executive producer for the show’s first season.

He also founded Bill Geddie Productions that created content for Discovery.
