Fox parts ways with staffer reportedly responsible for Joe Biden ‘wannabe dictator’ chyron

Fox’s conservative cable channel has reportedly parted ways with the producer allegedly behind the chyron banner labeling President Joe Biden as a “wannabe dictator.”

According to a Daily Beast report, Alexander McCaskill, who served as managing editor of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” before it was canceled when the network fired host Tucker Carlson, was behind the on-screen text.

The chyron in question, which read, in full, “Wannabe dictator speaks at the White House after having his political rival arrested,” aired at the tail end of the 8 p.m. eastern hour, which was Carlson’s former timeslot.

There are conflicting reports as to whether McCaskill was fired or resigned. According to a private Instagram post by McCaskill reviewed by The Daily Beast, he asked Fox “to let me go, and they finally did.”

Previously, Carlson took to his “Tucker on Twitter” series, posting a video where he claimed that the producer responsible for the banner was “scolded.” He further alleged that “the women who run the network panicked.”

“Less than 24 hours after that, he resigned. He had been at Fox for more than a decade. He was considered one of the most capable people in the building. He offered to stay for the customary two weeks, but Fox told him to clear out his desk and leave immediately,” Carlson claimed without citing a source. The are separate reports that Carlson loyalists are leaking information from inside the network to him.

Fox, meanwhile, contacted multiple media outlets with a statement saying the graphic in question “was taken down immediately and was addressed.”

The network did not respond to follow-up questions by MixDex’s sister site, NewscastStudio, about how it was addressed or if it stood behind the “dictator” label.

McCaskill was already in hot water with the network. Former staffer Abby Grossberg accused McCaskill of promoting a discriminatory work environment. He allegedly made offensive statements about lactation rooms and people of Jewish faith, including using Christmas decorations to taunt Grossberg.

All of the accusations have been denied by Fox and McCaskill, but the network is reportedly nearing a settlement with Grossberg.
