Just as Gayle King was wrapping up a live report on severe weather on April 19, 2019’s “CBS This Morning,” some kind of alert went off on her Apple Watch.

  • King visible was startled by the sound.
  • “I don’t even know what that was,” she said after managing to silent the alarm.
  • Some have noted the sound was similar to the “SOS” feature on the Apple Watch, which, by default, is activated if the side button on the device is held down. The feature can be configured to sound a warning sound as it counts down before calling emergency services.
  • As co-anchors John Dickerson and Anthony Mason laughed over the incident King added “Somethin’ happenin’ down there.”
  • “Save me Megan,” she joked, tossing to CBS meteorologist Megan Glaros who had been brought it to deliver weather updates.
  • “I thought there was a warning that popped up that I was unaware of,” said Glaros.
