NBC News Digital shuttering Mach, Left Field
After announcing adding up to 70 news positions to its digital team, NBC News also announced it’s closing some of its digital properties, with some staffers losing their jobs, reports Axios.
- The network will shut down its digital video studio NBC Left Field. Staffers working for this division were laid off Oct. 29, 2019, but will continue working through the end of 2019.
- All told, this will affect about 12 people, who will be eligible to apply for newly formed positions within NBC News Digital.
- NBC will also shut down its Mach vertical, which focused on science and technology.
- However, the network will expand the teams working on these subject areas overall.
