NBC publishes power surge article with affiliate links to buy them

NBC News posted a “Shop Today” article about the importance of using surge protectors during increased home power usage connected to the coronavirus outbreak that’s full of affiliate links.

Posts with affiliate links have been a mainstay on NBC News Digital — mainly under the “Today” brand — for some time now and are always labeled with a requisite affiliate link disclaimer.

The article makes recommendations ranging from “best standard surge protector” to “best surge protector with battery backup to protect from data loss” and links to Amazon, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, B&H Photo, Belkin and Staples websites to make a purchase — most of which will result in NBC getting a small portion of the sale.
