NBCUniversal and YouTube TV have agreed to a short extension to keep the media giant’s channels on the OTT TV service.
YouTube TV subscribers could have lost up to 14 channels, including local NBC affiliates in all markets and channels such as MSNBC, CNBC, NBCSN, Bravo, USA and E! at midnight Sept. 30, 2021, had the agreement not been reached.
The extension was reportedly agreed up about an hour before the deadline but it was not indicated how long the extension is for.
Such extensions are common during heated negotiations between broadcasters and cable, satellite and, more and more, streaming TV services.
For now, at least, this buys at least some time for the two sides to work out a deal.
