Orlando reporter killed, photojournalist shot while covering shooting: The same man is accused of both shootings

A reporter for Spectrum News 13 was killed Feb. 22, 2023, in Pine Hills, Florida, while on assignment covering a separate, earlier alleged homicide.

Dylan Lyons, 24, had been with the Orlando-based cable news outlet since 2022.

A photojournalist working with Lyons, Jesse Walden, as well as a 9-year-old girl not affiliated with the outlet were critically injured in the same incident.

Police have taken Keith Melvin Moses, 19, into custody. He allegedly shot 38-year-old Nathacha Augustin earlier in the day Feb. 22. She is described as an “acquaintance” of Moses.

Moses is also accused of allegedly returning to the same area where Augustin was killed and firing the shots that killed Lyons, T’yonna Major and injured Walden.

Spectrum News 13 has posted a detailed biography of Lyons. A GoFundMe campaign organized by the family has raised over $33,000 of its $25,000 goal as of midday Feb. 23, 2023.

Spectrum News 13 confirmed that the campaign is linked to Lyons’ family.
