NBC is prepping for the return of its iconic sketch show “Saturday Night Live” amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In a dramatic black and white spot, the network uses a single note as an image of the statue of Atlas that sits outside 30 Rock appears. In the shot, the sculpture is wearing a face mask.
There are then views from inside a mostly empty Rock Center, including a view of the double doors to Studio 8H being pulled open as a muted clip of the “live from New York…” line typically used at the end of the show’s cold open playing in the background before getting cut off by a heavy beat.
Next is a series of shots timed to beats of the background bed showing the cast getting ready, the marquee outside the building being “booted up” and another Rock Center resident, Prometheus, clad in a face mask.
“SNL” debuts Oct. 3, 2020 with host Chris Rock and musical guest Megan Thee Stallion.
“SNL” cut its last season short due to the pandemic, though it did produce a remote version of the show.
