NBC’s “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly” set to return to the schedule this spring and summer — but only “periodically,” reports Variety.
- Kelly joined NBC News from Fox News in a multiyear deal that included an evening newsmagazine and weekly daytime talker
- Kelly’s “Megyn Kelly Today,” a ratings challenged hour of the “Today” franchise is at least part of NBC’s reasoning behind the inconsistent schedule for “Sunday Night” this year — the Sunday show will air as her duties to the daytime show allow
- NBC has not set a premiere date for the second season of “Sunday Night” nor indicated how many episodes it will have or what frequency it will air
- NBC did say that once football begins in the fall, the show will be off the schedule again
- Ratings for “Sunday Night” failed to draw huge audiences last season
- The show aired eight episodes last season and NBC has referred to the show as a “limited series,” though there were reports the first season was slated to have more episodes
- Kelly is slated to front an NBC News special Friday, March 9, 2018, featuring an interview with Vladimir Putin
