Wendy Williams will not return to her self named talk show until at least the last day of January 2022.

The show has lined up another slate of guest hosts to fill in starting when the show returns from its scheduled winter hiatus Jan. 3, 2022.

Fat Joe and Remy Ma will host that week, followed by previous guest host Michael Rapaport the week of Jan. 10, 2022.

Kym Whitley and Finesse Mitchell and will fill in starting Jan. 17, 2022 and Sherri Shepard will return the week of Jan. 24, 2022.

January 2022 ends on a Monday, and “The Wendy Williams Show” has not announced plans beyond Shepard’s final day Jan. 28, 2022, though presumably the hope is Williams will be back.

That said, there’s been no official word from the show about when or if she might return and insiders are telling various sources her health has been in steep decline and may not return to the show at all.

The show is currently renewed only through the end of this season. While it’s not uncommon for renewal decisions to be made later rather than sooner, strong shows often get news of renewal in the fall of the proceeding year.

Insiders say the staff at “Wendy” is upset about the lack of transparency between Williams and her team and Debmar-Mercury, the show’s production company. Some are already said to be actively looking for new jobs, given that now renewal decision has been announced, the host has been out the entire season and the unstable nature of working in TV even without those complications.

As the weeks go on with no return from Williams, it seems more and more likely the show won’t be renewed for a 14th season.

Debmar-Mercury has reportedly considered Nick Cannon’s self titled new show as a replacement for Williams’, assuming she doesn’t return and his ratings are adequate, but that would still leave a gap in many stations’ schedules.

While they stations could shop for syndicated programming elsewhere or replace one of the hours with a local production, it would likely be to Debmar’s advantage to have a new show ready to go — but it’s also fairly late in the game to get a new show developed in time for a fall 2022 debut.
