ABC has released what it calls a groundbreaking equity report for 100 of America’s largest cities.

The effort, titled “Our America Equity Report,” examines issues such as law enforcement diversity, housing, education and school discipline, environment and health.

ABC News and its owned television stations will leverage this data to produce content tracking and spotlighting racial inequities in marginalized communities across the U.S. It’s already been used to more than two dozen stories across the network and its stations namely under ABC’s broader “Our America” diversity initiative branding.

“By combining the power of local news and the efforts of the national team to bring together people and situations that fuel powerful stories like police diversity – the results are extraordinary and have a bigger impact with providing greater context and amplifying underrepresented voices,” said Mark Nichols, senior manager of data journalism for ABC News and ABC Owned Television Stations in a statement.

The network has set up a site, OurAmericaABC.com, that includes data breakdowns and more details about the information gathered.
