America Ferrera exiting ‘Superstore’ in surprise move

Just two weeks after getting a Season 6 renewal, America Ferrera will exit “Superstore” after the current season’s conclusion.

Ferrera, who also serves as executive producer, is reportedly exiting before her contract ends.

NBC and Ferrera reps would not comment to Deadline on why the star is exiting. There’s also no word how her character will be written off the show, which is currently in the middle of airing its fifth season.

The move comes the season after creator Justin Spitzer exited as showrunner.

Ferrera previously starred on ABC’s “Ugly Betty.”
