Fox’s conservative commentary channel has hired Caitlyn Jenner as a contributor.

Jenner is scheduled to make her first appearance in the role during “Hannity” on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Jenner is a former Olympian who came out as transgender. She identifies as female.

“Caitlyn’s story is an inspiration to us all. She is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for our audience,” CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement.

However, that statement comes as multiple Fox personalities and guests have railed against LGBTQ+ rights, often spreading misinformation and mischaracterizations of the complex nature of sexuality and gender identity.

Tucker Carlson has a history that includes alleged college membership in anti-LGBTQ+ clubs and making false claims about gender-affirming health care, according to GLAAD, an organization that champions cultural change and acceptance of the LGBTQ community.

Jenner describes herself as socially liberal but fiscally conservative. During the 1026 election, she stopped short of endorsing Donald Trump, though she did acknowledge he would be good for women’s issues, but also said she would never vote for Hillary Clinton. Ultimately she would say she voted for Trump.

Later, after the Trump administration pulled back federal requirements that allowed transgender students to use restrooms at school matching their gender identity, she seemingly pulled back from supporting him, citing his campaign promises to support the LGBTQ+ community.

Jenner entered politics herself in 2021 by running in a recall election to attempt to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom from office.

The election featured a crowded field of both republicans and democrats. Jenner ended up getting around 1% of the vote and Newsom remained in office.

She was previously married to Kris Jenner, and had two children with her, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.

Kris Jenner was previously married to attorney Robert Kardashian and Caitlyn Jenner was a step-parent to their four children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Robert.

Multiple members of the Jenner-Kardashian family have gone on to become famous in their own right, thanks to reality television and their various business ventures.

Most cable and broadcast networks maintain a stable of contributors and analysts, who are typically paid to appear on programs and in reports.

Amounts vary greatly and the deals often guarantee the contributor a minimum number of appearances during the term of the contract. While they often have other jobs that often are related to their expertise, they are often barred from appearing as a contributor or guest on other networks.
