Laura Jarrett has been announced to replace Dave Briggs on CNN’s “Early Start.”

  • Jarrett will anchor the early morning newscast alongside Christine Romans.

  • It leads into “New Day,” CNN’s anchor for a more traditional morning newscast.
  • Jarrett, an attorney by trade, joined CNN in 2017.
  • She is the daughter of well known Chicago government official Valerie Jarrett who would later go on to advise President Barack Obama.
  • In 2011, CNN replaced its “American Morning” morning with a new block of programming, featuring “Early Start” from 4 to 6 a.m. and “Starting Point” from 7 to 9 a.m.
  • CNN retained the name “Early Start” for the show that, in its current form, proceeds its signature morning show.
  • “Early Start” now airs from 4 to 6 a.m., with “New Day” taking over at 6.
