CNN fires back at Daily Caller article on town hall ratings

After The Daily Caller tweeted the link to an article pointing out that every CNN town hall has finished behind competitors Fox and MSNBC, CNN’s PR team fired back.

• Donald Trump retweeted the tweet.
• Responding to both the Daily Caller and Trump, “CNN does not host presidential town halls for ratings. We host them because substantive conversations with presidential candidates inform and empower voters to make the best possible choices for their families and communities. And it’s the right thing to do,” the network tweeted.
• The tweet also included its trademark “#FactsFirst” hashtag.
• Some Twitter users called CNN’s response “altruistic” and also pointed out that low ratings also mean the town halls aren’t reaching as wide of an audience as they could.
