RuPaul to become first drag queen to host ‘SNL’

Drag green RuPaul has been tapped to host “Saturday Night Live,” reports Entertainment Weekly.
- Paul’s appearance will mark the first time a drag queen has hosted “SNL” in the show’s history.
- Paul’s episode will air Feb. 8, 2020.
- Paul is known for hosting “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” since 2009.
- RuPaul is the drag persona of RuPaul Andre Charles.
- Charles hosted a three week trial of talk show “RuPaul” in 2019, but it was not picked up.
- There was also a two season “The RuPaul Show” on VH1 starting in 1996.
- Charles and his drag persona have both made numerous appearances on TV shows and movies over the years, including an appearance on “SNL” in 1993.
