Sky News’ Asia correspondent Tom Cheshire and his crew were detained while trying to enter Hong Kong.
- According to a tweet, Cheshire and his crew were given no reason for the detainment beyond a “random check.”
- He tweeted that they were held for about two hours and their requests to call the British Embassy were denied. Their belongings were also searched.
- They were eventually released and returned to their home base in Beijing.
- “If it’s meant as an intimidation tactic, rest assured it will have the opposite effect,” he tweeted after returning home.
Thanks for messages. We’re all ok and out, and back home in Beijing. If it’s meant as an intimidation tactic, rest assured it will have the opposite effect.
