NBC News‘ “Today” appears to be slowly venturing back into the studio.
After months of anchoring mostly from separate locations due to the coronavirus pandemic, “Today” co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb were both back in Studio 1A July 15, 2020.
While it’s not clear if the switch is permanent (or at least as permanent as one can get amid a pandemic), there are several signs that could indicate NBC is cautiously reopening the studio to more capacity.
While Kotb and Guthrie have been out off and on over the past few weeks, at least some of their fill in anchors also originated from the studio with at least one other personality and often more than one.
The show continues to keep talent at least six feet apart in studio whenever possible and work with a reduced crew.
Of the five core hosts who appear in the show’s main two hours, only Al Roker continues to join remotely.
