TV Guide can’t quite get ‘CBS Evening News’ listing right

If you’re using the TV Guide website as your “guide” to TV, keep in mind that it seems to be a bit confused about who anchors “CBS Evening News” — even as a new anchor is set to take over.

As we tweeted July 12, 2019, a screen capture of the “CBS Evening News” listing for Monday, July 15, 2019, the day Norah O’Donnell takes over, still features the name “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” in the listings reviewed by TVNewsMix.

It’s not immediately clear if the error is sitewide or just restricted to the markets reviewed by TVNewsMix, which included Chicago and New York listings.

Pelley hasn’t been regular anchor of the broadcast since June 2017.

Perhaps even more confusing is that the description under this headline proclaims that “Jeff Glor anchors this daily evening broadcast…”

Glor replaced Pelley as permanent anchor of the broadcast in December 2017, but was removed earlier this year.

But wait, there’s more: TV Guide updated the background image from a generic logo to a photo of O’Donnell over the weekend on the listings reviewed by TVNewsMix — but the text referencing Pelley and Glor remains.

Ironically, TV Guide’s digital properties are owned and managed by CBS Interactive.

Some online listings data, including titles and imagery, is provided by a third party service, so the issue could lie with a vendor TV Guide uses.
