Felicity Huffman sentenced to 14 days in jail
Former “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman has been sentenced to 14 days in jail for her involvement in a college admissions scandal.
- “I am deeply sorry to the students, schools, and universities, that are impacted by my actions,” said Huffman, reading from a prepared statement in Boston.
- Huffman, who appeared in court alongside her husband, actor William H. Macy, will pay a $30,000 fine.
- Macy was not charged in connection to the FBI probe known as “Operation Varsity Blues.”
- She will also perform 250 hours of community service.
- The sentencing is part of a plea deal where Huffman plead guilty to mail and honest services fraud.
- In the plea, she admitted to paying $15,000 for someone to help fix the results of her daughter Sophie’s SAT test.
- Sophie’s score jumped 400 points about her PSAT results to 1420 out of 1600.
- Meanwhile, Lori Loughlin, of “Full House” fame, is facing similar charges stemming from the same probe.
- Loughlin and her fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, refused a plea deal.
