The Weather Channel will air the third installation of its “2020 Race to Save the Planet” series, this one focusing on environmental issues in key battleground states.

The special airs Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 9 p.m. eastern and is subtitled as “Swing States.”

Dave Malkoff traveled to what will be key states on the electoral map to talk with local citizens, politicians and community leaders about how climate issues will affect politics ahead of and leading into the election.

These interviews included Trump-supporting farmers who have seen their planting seasons shrink down to days, in some cases, based on what they say is climate changes.

The special will explore renewable energy in Texas — state that has shifted politically in recent years.

Other stops include Maine, Florida and Arizona in this wide-ranging look at the overlap between science and politics.

Previous installments of “Race to the Save the Planet” aired in November 2019.

This version included interviews with presidential candidates about climate issues — but had to be edited at the last minute to remove Beto O’Rourke after he dropped out.

A second edition aired in February 2020.
