After a video of a man heckling CNN anchor Chris Cuomo — and Cuomo firing back with threats of violence — went viral, Donald Trump Jr. and others are calling Cuomo out.
At the heart is Cuomo’s claim that the man allegedly using the first name of “Godfather” character Fredo Corleone is a racial slur equivalent to the N-word.
Critics, including Donald Trump Jr., were quick to point out that a guest on “Cuomo Prime Time” used the reference and Cuomo didn’t object.
Donald Trump Jr. also alluded to the fact that he and his brother Eric Trump are often referred to that way.
“Hey @ChrisCuomo, take it from me, ‘Fredo’ isn’t the N-word for Italians, it just means you’re the dumb brother,” Donald Trump Jr. tweeted with a winking face.
Others pointed to fellow CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s use of a cartoon depicting Trump Jr. as Fredo Corleone and another time a CNN guest used the term to refer to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.).
Cuomo also compared the term “fake news” to the N-word, but later apologized for the remark.
CNN, meanwhile, is supporting Cuomo.
