An Arizona anchor is headed to an undefined anchoring and hosting job at NBC News in New York.
Paul Gerke, who hosts “Today in AZ” at the NBC affiliate KPNX, will leave at the end of February 2020.
His last day behind the anchor desk, however, is Feb. 7.
It’s not immediately clear if the assignment is for NBC News proper or one of its many divisions, such as digital or streaming arms or even another NBCUniversal property.
Gerke told AZCentral that he could not discuss his exact assignment, but did confirm he will anchor, host and fill in on shows that originate from the network’s headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
The most likely place would seem to be the network’s cable news network MSNBC or NBC News Now, the network’s streaming service.
