YouTube says reduced manual reviews due to coronavirus may result in more content flagging
Google owned YouTube has announced that, due to the coronavirus outbreak, it will be reducing the amount of manual reviews by humans — which could result in more videos getting flagged for copyright issues even if they don’t violate any rules.
“As we do this, users and creators may see increased video removals, including some videos that may not violate policies,” reads a blog post the video sharing service posted.
The post does note that the site won’t be issuing “copyright strikes” in most cases — unless it has “high confidence” that it is in violation of the site terms.
YouTube says it uses both in house employees and third party contractors to help with the review process and these operations, like many in the country, have been disrupted due to COVID-19.
